Hastings Book Festival – Nigel Planer

Nigel Planer is an actor, comedian and writer who found fame as Neil the hippy in cult tv comedy The Young Ones and has been a leading light on the comedy scene ever since, having been part of the legendary Comedy Store and The Comic Strip Presents team, and appearing in Filthy Rich & Catflap on television, taking in West End musicals and a hit pop record- his cover of ‘Hole in My Shoe’ became a number 2 hit single in 1984- along the way.

His memoir, Young Once, tells his personal and professional story and we are delighted that Nigel will be joining us in Hastings for an unforgettable evening of backstage stories capturing the highs and lows of a life in performance. 

Nigel enchanted our audience on his previous visit to the Book Festival in 2023 and is returning by popular demand. Expect an evening of laughter and candour from an accomplished storyteller.
